RefugeesThanksgiving Festival 2013-Kakuma, Kenya
Welcome To South Sudan Children Appreciation Program (SSCAP).
Motto: "Empowering the teenagers of today for a better tomorrow".
We take this golden opportunity to make all people aware that South Sudan Children Appreciation Program (SSCAP)is a program conceptualized and founded by Joseph Atem Kuer Deng on 5th May, 2011 in Kenya. SSCAP is a group of South Sudanese children ( KAKUMA GENERATION) choir whose goal is to express their happiness through songs, poetry and drama. All these activities and functions are meant for the appreciation to The Government of Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and UNITED NATIONS and its management committee especially the leaders who execute its mandates. SSCAP group is accompanied by their mothers, a large number of South Sudanese women popularly known as(Courage of South Sudan). The group has endorsed this program and provided assistance through composition of songs. They will equally participate in the performance of the festivals.
Fortunately, South Sudanese refugees and well wishers residing in Kenya have approved and thrown their weights behind its establishment. SSCAP was created for the purpose of extending an appreciation to the United Nations with all its Agencies and the entire International Community. We would like to appreciate the UN agencies which have been helping the people of South Sudan throughout their hardship up to now. We are grateful that the UN agencies had stood firmly with the people of South Sudan in various angles and we cannot forget to acknowledge their efforts. The UNHCR (formed in 1951) to provide humanitarian aid, in form of shelter, food, health facilities, education, security through host country, resettlement and general protection of refugees the world over, has helped many South Sudanese refugees throughout the World. Also other agencies like RED CROSS, UNMISS, WHO, UNICEF, WFP, IOM, UNDP, UNOP among have helped South Sudanese in various stages and therefore they deserves our appreciation.
We would like to appreciate the Kenyan People and government for their whole heartedly hosting South Sudanese refugees during and after Sudanese civil war. In a more special way, we humbly acknowledge the immense contribution of the Kenyan Government and People to the success of the CPA by facilitating the process of negotiation at Naivasha. Again, thanks to Kenya for granting South Sudanese refugees unconditional resettlement on its soil and constantly ensuring security for them. It facilitates service delivery by the NGOS personnel to refugees which include among others medication, education and freedom of movement just to mention but a few. Congratulations Kenyans! More importantly, healthy diplomatic relations between Kenya and South Sudan have been started to last forever and it is our sincere anticipation that tyh will never end. Congratulations Kenya. We give special thanks to the neighboring countries which are members of IGAD comprising Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Egypt and Uganda among many others.
We also want to thank the Late Dr. John Garang De Mabior for his living sacrifice in the liberation of the people of South Sudan. We are equally indebted to thank the government of the Republic of South Sudan under the Leadership of H.E. General Salva Kiir Mayardit and The Vice President H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny for leading the people of South Sudan to achieve the independence. We would also like to appreciate the effort and contribution of our churches and other civil society organizations during the struggle until we realized the self-determination for the People of South Sudan. We are pleased to thank the courage of all the People of South Sudan for delivering the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which brought to an end to decades of brutality, suffering, displacement and marginalization in the former Sudan.
Now that the war is ended and South Sudan Independence achieved, we the Children of South Sudan would like to grow in a South Sudan characterized by justice, peace, democracy, security for life and property, equal opportunity for all, and above all respect for human rights.
